QFT: Fueling Champions - Mark McDonald

Mark McDonald’s Top Sportsman drag car is a total commitment that revolves around his family and one of his business interests, DragstersForSale.com. Mark’s wife Deidre is the crew chief who is assisted by their two sons Michael and Ryan when they are not racing their own bracket cars.

The Pro Mod carbon fiber body is a ’67 Tim McAmis creation that is both strong and light. Power comes from a 598cid big-block that sees a steady diet of nitrous and is fed by a pair of QFT’s QFX 1250 cfm carbs atop a custom sheet metal intake. Mark uses a bevy of QFT fuel pressure regulators (30-1803 on the nitrous and 30-4803 for the carbs mounted on 30-4 billet regulator logs). The sleek and aerodynamic Top Sportsman racer has recorded a 6.64-second ET and charged to 205mph on the top end.

Mark is a transplanted Brit with a dry sense of humor, but when he pulls to the starting line, he is all business with many tough wins to his credit. When not racing he concentrates on other business interests such as maintaining power generation control systems for his local utility company in Boonville, Indiana. Mark credits his uncle David and his D/SA 1969 Mustang for piquing his interest in drag racing.
